A 75 year old Muslim man was murdered by a British citizen with a machete as he walked home from prayer in Birmingham a mere few weeks ago. A British soldier was killed in more or less the same way by 2 Muslim men in Woolwich on May 22nd. Which story do you know more about?
I watch the news everyday, occasionally twice a day but I cannot recall the story of the murder of the 75 year old Muslim man being covered by any news station. I do, however remember everything that has been said and is still being said about the brutal murder of the British soldier. What I can't understand is why one brutal attack has received coverage whereas another one has received next to none. Is it because it was one of our own being slayed in the street or is it because the word "terrorism" has been attached to the Woolwich murder?
I find that the British media in particular throws around the words "terrorist" and "terrorism" like it's confetti. The gist of it is if there is a Muslim involved it's automatically terrorism. I watched various news stations while the events in Woolwich unfolded and what worried me most was the fact the American news stations were the most impartial. The terrorist attacks that have occurred in America are no secret - a potential terrorist attack was actually foiled within my first hour of my latest visit to New York - yet their news stations somehow tiptoe around the subject and treat the religion the suspects are of delicately whereas the British media throws in "Muslim" and "terrorist" in what appears to be a bid to scare us into tuning in.
We, as British citizens aren't any better in the face of inhumanity. The amount of racist tweets that followed in the wake of the murder was nauseating. I follow just over 100 people on Twitter and the amount of them who have turned out to be closet racists is disgusting. The tweets that aggravated me the most were the "I'm not racist but..." you fill in the blanks. You're not racist yet you're currently tweeting an incredibly racist thing? Ok, I'm not a meat eater but I'm going to devour a cheeseburger. Sorry to say but anyone who says or thinks anything racist is - in my eyes at least - a racist. Anyone who stands in the queue in airport security thinking the Muslim man in front of them is a terrorist is racist, anyone who shortens Pakistani and Chinese to their more derogatory formation is to me a racist. My morals have become a lot stricter over the past year and I get very uptight over certain words and phrases and racism is something I cannot stand. I've been on the receiving end of racism due to the fact I am Scottish and I can honestly say it's a horrific thing to receive and something I could never impose upon a fellow human being regardless of their skin colour or religion. I cannot tar people with the same brush as no two people are alike. We do not all possess the desire to murder, rape or kidnap, in fact the majority of us would never dream of such a thing yet here some of us are pointing the fingers at all Muslims for the acts of a few extremists.
A white man currently stands trial for the murder of a schoolgirl, a white man killed my dad's friends mum in a brutal attack, a white man has been accused of countless sexual attacks on both young girls and boys, a white man was sentenced to over 30 years in jail for killing his girlfriend's granddaughter, a white man carried out a massacre in a school in Connecticut, a white man slayed innocent people as they attended a midnight screening of Batman: The Dark Knight Rises, white people were heavily involved in the London riots and white people clashed with police after the events of May 22nd and yet the only people branded as murderers, rapists, thieves, thugs and paedophiles are the ones who carried out the crimes. Why can we not give the same respect to the 2 billion - and counting - Muslims? The acts of a few do not reflect the majority.
RIP Lee Rigby.

Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation Review
I've had the Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation for a while now and, as I've been using it practically everyday I've worn make up I figured it was about time I wrote the review for it.
I think it's fairly obvious going by the name of this foundation that it has a very light coverage. It offers a little more than a tinted moisturiser but it struggles to cover up the majority of blemishes. I do have the occasional bit of redness around my nose and this foundation just manages to cover it but when it comes to my under eye circles it's completely useless. Personally I'm not a big fan of full coverage foundations as they make me feel like I'm wearing a mask so the coverage is perfect for me.
The foundation glides on really well and it doesn't settle into any fine lines. It also blends easily and has the added bonus of having SPF 20. I find that it does have a slight dewy finish to it but I prefer to mattify everything so I add a sweep of powder over the top. I do find however, that the foundation lasts all day and well into the night without powder to set it and that's on my confused skin.

My only real gripe with this foundation is the packaging; I can't stand liquid foundations that don't have a pump. The lack of pump makes this foundation incredibly messy and it means I often pour out more than I actually plan on using so I'm forever wasting foundation. Are you happy Revlon? What am I saying? Of course you are as I'm going to end up repurchasing this foundation a lot faster than I originally planned.
Personally I am in love with this foundation. I don't like feeling like I'm wearing make up and this foundation is light enough to make me forget I am actually wearing any not to mention it's my preferred coverage. There are 10 shades to choose from and although I went for the lightest which is "Ivory" it's still far too dark for me so I do have to mix it with a white foundation but that's more my ghostlike appearances fault rather than Revlon's. If you're looking for a light foundation this one is perfect but if you prefer to have all of your imperfections covered up without having to overconceal everything steer clear of this.
Song of the day is yet another one by Miles Kane. I can't wait for his new album to come out - and it comes out 2 days after I see Green Day so weyhey for June - but I'm having to make do for now with this song.

Ink Print
During a severely long procrastination session I ended up doodling another rose that went wrong. As there was no eraser to hand and I was too comfy to get up and look for one I grabbed two bottles of ink and this happened:

I forgot for the third time that the red ink is not actually red but I think I prefer the pink and black. Things got messy but that seems to be my style that I'm just going to have to learn to embrace.
I had forgotten I had dug out my watercolour palette a few weeks ago and tried to paint a lemon or 2. The bottom left one was done in ink and although it was rather jarring at first I now actually like the outcome. A rarity for me.

Song of the day is by Tango In The Attic and is called Paw Prints. Enjoy.

Outfit Of The Day #3
This is becoming a little too outfit of the day heavy but I haven't really had time to do anything remotely interesting for the past few days, I only just found the time to edit the 2nd video I filmed on Monday. Sad face.
As it was moderately sunny and somewhat warm - for about 5 seconds - I decided to dig out some shorts and a cropped top. This may be the closest I get to Summer since I live right in the hills in Scotland and am forever being rained upon.

Jacket - Boohoo.com
Top - Republic
Shorts - Jane Norman
Tights - They'e Tights, C'mon People!
My Jeffrey Campbell Litas and my Roberta Minelli bag also make another appearance. I tend to live in my Jeffrey Campbell's now, bit strange considering the fact I used to absolutely detest the things up until November last year.

>
I recently discovered this ring hiding behind my bed. I bought it a few years ago for £1 at a stall at the Edinburgh Fringe and I actually thought I lost it on a plane. I'm such a scatterbrain.

Song of the day is by MS MR and is called Hurricane. This came on a playlist during today's run and it's not remotely motivating in any sense of the word when it comes to exercising but damn is it a good song.

Artistic Mistakes
So after being both bummed out and annoyed over the major mistake I made to the ink painting of Sky Ferreira I finally sucked it up and finished it. My mistake was not actually paying enough attention to her face before I started to add the ink which, in all honesty I should've seen coming. A little bit of improvisation never hurt anyone though right?

Basically her face in the photo I was using for reference actually did consist of her face with an image of Marilyn Monroe above her but I made a major mess of things and decided to just add more ink rather than what's actually in the photo. Artistic license or something equally as relevant.
Song of the day is by Palma Violets and is called Best Of Friends. Enjoy.

Outfit Of The Day #2
Just like my last outfit of the day post I'm off to see The View again only this time in an actual venue rather than on an open top bus.

Jacket - ASOS Marketplace
Top - eBay Business Seller
Leggings - Topshop
Necklace - Topshop
Earrings - Tiffanys
Shoes - Jeffrey Campbell
Bag - Roberta Minelli
This is my go to outfit when I can't actually be too bothered but still want to look presentable. I only really got into leggings last year but if you ever see me wearing leggings without having a top to cover my bum feel free to slap me. The bag won't actually be making it into the venue, it'll be left behind at my friends house but it's handy for the pub crawl beforehand.
I'm not usually the type of girl who wear heels to a gig but combine 2 pulled muscles and sore hip bones - not sure about the hip bones but the pulled muscles are a result of running - and my usual hyperactive puppy thing isn't going to happen. I'll just sip on a vodka and coke and let the rest of the crowd get covered in urine and beer. Seriously what is with guys peeing into cups and throwing them over the crowd at bands like The View? It's absolutely disgusting. Go to the toilet.
Song of the day is by The OK Social Club who are tonight's support act for The View. They're a cracking band to see live and I can't wait to see them again! This song is called The Shape Of Things To Come. Enjoy.

Sleek Aqua Collection "Lagoon" Palette Review
I've always considered Sleek as the creme de la creme of drugstore make up but I'm especially drawn to their eyeshadow palettes. I've recently been going off of shimmer eyeshadows and unfortunately the majority of Sleek eyeshadows are shimmer shadows however, I just couldn't resist and picked up a limited edition palette from the Aqua Collection called 'Lagoon'.

The packaging is the ever "sleek" - I'm sorry - black, solid casing that Sleek always uses it. It's very sturdy and it allows you to put the mirror at the desired angle without having to hold it in place, always a plus in my book. The double ended sponge applicator that comes with it isn't anything to write home about but that doesn't really surprise me.
I think the colour selection is rather versatile and this palette is definitely going to become my new travel palette as it can be used for both natural looks and more bold over the top looks. It also comes with a shimmery white which is perfect for highlighting and Sleek's signature black eyeshadow which I've always considered to be the best drugstore black eyeshadow I've ever used.

From right to left: Sassea, Deep Water, Reflection, Emerald, Oyster, Black Pearl.

From right to left: Pink Jewel, Sand Dollar, Underworld, Sea Shell, Night Sky, Ariel
The eyeshadows in the top row of the palette are all very well pigmented but I do find I need to work a bit more with the bottom row but as they are predominately paler colours I'll let it slide. All of the eyeshadows last all day and well into the night providing you've used a good primer. My eyelids tend to get quite oily throughout the day but all 12 of these eyeshadows never crease or fade.
Overall it's a great palette and considering the fact it costs £7.99 it's an absolute steal! Apologies to my beloved Urban Decay palette, I'm afraid you're no longer required on trips away.
Song of the day is by Broken Hands and is called If You Need To Lie. I'm currently working on the "Bands To See At Festivals" video and these chaps may make an appearance. They were absolutely phenomenal when I saw them at T in the Park last year!
